I had been having a ton of regular and strong Braxton Hicks contrations for weeks (just like I always do). The week before my due date I was dilated to 3 cm and about 50% effaced and really soft. I went to my appointment the next week on Wednesday. I was one day past due. I only had a handful of contractions that day and went to my appointment at 3:00pm. I was going for a VBAC this time and couldn't be induced so I was going to discuss my options. She checked me and I was dilated to 4 cm and 70% effaced. She stripped my membranes and since I was overdue I had to get an ultrasound and a Non-stress test. During all of these test I started to get some painful contractions. I drove back to my sister's house (she had my kids) at about 5:00pm. The contractions stayed steady and strong. Our families ate dinner together and Brandon met me there. I was starting to have to walk around to feel better with the contractions. We decided to go to the hospital.
We got to the hospital at 7:15pm. They checked me and I was almost 5 cm dilated and 80% effaced. I got my epidural (yeah!) at about 8:45pm. and I was so grateful because the contractions were close together and pretty strong. She broke my water at about 9:00pm. At 10:00 pm they were getting stronger and I had to push the epidural button a few more times. I told Brandon I wanted the Nurse to check me. She checked me at 10:15pm and I was fully dilated and she was right there. Yeah!!! I started pushing at 10:30 and she was born at 10:46pm.
