Help, please!

I am in need of a new infant car seat and stroller combo. Does anyone have any suggestions? I of coarse want one that is safe, but don't really want to pay top dollar. I am considering Britax because I know that they have the highest safety ratings, but they are a bit pricey for the stroller and car seat combo. Is Chicco good? Are there some cheaper car seats that still have good safety ratings? I have been researching online, but there are too many to pick from.

I am also looking for a baby swing that is nice, not too expensive, quiet and one that isn't ginormous. Has anyone found one they really like?

And in the next 6-8 months I need to get a new high chair as well. I would like a wooden one. Has anyone tried any wooden ones. I like the look of the Eddie Bauer one that Target carries, but it seems a little pricey and the reviews all say that it is hard to clean and that the paint chips easily.

Any suggestions would be great, I haven't looked into this stuff for over seven years, so I am feeling a little overwhelmed!

I'm no help...because its been almost ten years since I have had to buy all that stuff. But there are so many cute stuff out there now, I wish I could shop for new ones.
But if I needed a new baby jogger/stroller that holds the carseat, I would LOVE a Bob Revolution jogger...They have adapters for the carseats to snap on. They might be pricey though...not sure on that one.

I'm in the market for the carseat combo too. I think I'm going to get the Chicco. I've heard good reviews about it but what I really like is the stroller. It's not too bulky like the Graco one is. I HATED the graco stroller and with 2 kids in stroller, I found I used my Caboose more than my individual graco one. Now I just use my umbrella one because the Graco is so big.

As for the baby swing, my next purchase will be one that swings two ways. i think they are bigger and bulkier but they looks so nice.

I've also seen the table swings that you put your carseat in and I think that's brillant. They are small so you can take them anywhere. The only downfall I would think would be if your child outgrows the carrier quickly like my boys did, then you aren't able to use this swing- but, how long do you really use a swing??

Interested to know what others say.

Hey Laurie,

I Just bought the Chicco car seat for Kyle. I really like it, and it got a rating of the safest car seat in the U.S or something like that. I love the base because it has the latch system just like the britax car seats, is so easy to install and does not move and inch. I really like the stroller too, although I do not have it. My older kids have the Britax seats. They are pricey, but you can be in them up to 65 lbs, they are safe, and they last forever. And if you have different sexes of
kids you can buy different covers for them, which I plan to do for Kyle. As for swings, I have the rainforest one, that swings both way's. Kyle really enjoys it, and the music is nice. It is bigger, but I love that you can plug it into the wall and not have to go through a million batteries. Good luck, and hope this helps.

We researched them for months before we had Julia and I finely decided to get the Graco Mosaic Stroller- love it. The regular snugride Graco car seat (they always get the best safety ratings) fits into it. The stroller is really lightweight and easy to fold and unfold with one hand and pushes really well. I also really like Combi's strollers. I just got a swing from Walmart that is portable so it takes up less space. (I think it's a fisher price- cheap) but its a good one.

Chifumi has the Chicco and absolutely loves it. Her stroller lays completely flat which is great for a newborn. I helped her put the carseat in the first time and it was soooo easy. I got the graco combo and I really like it. The stroller is so much better than the old stroller you and I had. It pushes easily and folds easily.

Good luck.

I think Chicco is a good suburb brand (wore out quick in the city though). They also have a broad range of strollers for a travel system. I don't recommend the Graco safe seat that goes up to 30 lbs, unless you have really big babies. They don't fit in a shopping cart very well and I can't even see over it. I do like the smaller graco though (be sure you get one with a crotch strap...the one that adjusts the harness). I love my Maclaren Easy Traveller in case you are considering a snap n go. Worth the extra $20. It is super compact and I can lift it into the car with one hand. The Peg Perego Pliko seems like a great travel system stroller, I'm sure a graco car seat would fit into it. But if you want a single jogger anyway I think the Bob would make a great all around stroller, too. Sorry for the plethora of suggestions...I'm stroller obsessed.

Oh and Fisher Price Papasan swing is fantastic.

I got the Fisher Price swing Jaimee was talking about. It does take up room, but I love the wall plug in. My kids always had it on, and weren't waisting batteries. I would either go with this one or the fisher price little one. I think it's the one Sarajane mentioned. Sometimes I wished I had a smaller one I could take with me. My kids always get tired of the swing so I don't use it long enough to send a lot. I wish you could use mine.

I don't have a high chair, but we use our bumbo on the table and then the hanging chair. But I finally got a new table, so I might be asking you about a high chair when Rylee gets too big for the table.

My sister in law has the maxi cosi foray and it is awesome. I have the baby trend sit and stand stroller. If your three year old will sit on the back it's great.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. They are quite helpful and made me think of a few more things I haven't thought of. I really think I might look into a sit and stand stroller that would be perfect for Coleman who is constantly getting in and out of the one we have now.

I think I do like the Chicco carseat combo as well. And I have pretty much decided to get a swing that swings side to side-and the plug in option is GREAT!

Thanks guys!
